Overview

The NV5 Security Practice is seeking a Design Engineer to work with a team to design and oversee the installation and integration of advanced site security systems for Nuclear Power Generation Facilities. The ideal candidate will either possess or be willing to complete training to become a certified Qualified Design Engineer.

 

Work Environment:

  • Location:  Onsite at NV5 Client location in Charlotte, NC
  • Travel: 20% of the time 
  • May require flexible hours to accommodate customer needs and for travel requirements

Responsibilities

  • Designing security systems, including access control, surveillance cameras, alarms, and sensors.
  • Collaborating with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to integrate security measures into building plans and infrastructure.
  • Conducting risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and threats.
  • Implementing security protocols and procedures to enhance protection.
  • Monitoring and maintaining security systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Providing training and support to personnel on security protocols and equipment usage.
  • Assists in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities under the guidance of higher-level employees.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in security systems design and implementation.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in physical security or related fields.

  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to security.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilitues.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
