Responsibilities

NV5 is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineer(Roadways) to join our Transportation team in Charlotte, NC. The Senior Engineer will be responsible for providing technical expertise, assistance and review associated with transportation projects.

 

The most frequent and essential work activities include: 

  • Responsible to lead roadway design projects including geometrics.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines in the delivery of projects.
  • Prepare plans per NCDOT manuals/guidance. 
  • Assign tasks and communicate task expectations to junior engineers and other disciplines.
  • Ensure that project tasks are completed within deadlines and allotted project budgets. 
  • Communicate adequately with all team members and senior management.
  • Responsible for QA (Quality Assurance)/QC (Quality Check) process.
  • Prepare progress reports for invoice submittal.
  • Communicate with the client.
  • Assist with mentoring junior transportation staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • NC PE (Professional Engineering) License.
  • 10+ Years’ experience in transportation (roadway) design.
  • Must have a good understanding of and practical experience applying the AASHTO Green Book. 
  • Knowledge and experience with MicroStation, InRoads and/or Geopak.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license prior to employment.
