Junior Developer

NV5 Geospatial is looking for a Junior Python Developer to assist our data production teams with scripts or software to improve our data processing workflows.  Our Innovation team is on the cutting edge of products and techniques for the most sophisticated geospatial datasets available. • Scripting and Tool Development - Create and update existing scripts or tools to make workflows more efficient or for new requirements. 
• Best Practices - Maintain best practices such as adhering to style guidelines, leveraging version control systems, etc. 
• Collaboration and Communication - Act as the technical liaison in discussions with Project Managers, Product Owners, and other teams, presenting complex information clearly and ensuring that technical requirements are understood and integrated into the project plans.   
• Troubleshooting – Ability to troubleshoot complex solutions for a wide array of geospatial applications.  
• Software Development Lifecycle - Apply software development lifecycle methodology to ensure quality solutions are designed, developed and delivered. 
• Collaboration and Communication - Act as the technical liaison in discussions with Project Managers, Product Owners, and other teams, presenting complex information clearly and ensuring that technical requirements are understood and integrated into the project plans.   
• Reporting - Attend standup meetings and anticipate and address any issues or blockers that might impede team performance or project timelines.     

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Geographic Information Sciences (GIS) or a related field of study, or equivalent 4 years of work experience. 
• Experience with Python.  
• 2+ years of professional developer experience. 

• Experience with GitHub (branching and pull requests). 
• Experience with distributed processing environments.  
• Our ideal candidate has experience using open source and proprietary geospatial processing libraries.   
• Familiarity or experience in some of following: OGR, GDAL, Fiona, Rasterio, Shapely, scikit-learn, NumPy, SciPy, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, OpenCV, Dask, Matplotlib, Bokeh, pandas, GeoPandas, Laspy. 
• Experience using ArcPy. 
• Understanding of common python data types (i.e. floats or text strings), structures (i.e. lists and dictionaries) and control flow (i.e. try/except).
