Overview

NV5 is seeking an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist who will play a key role in developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive EHS compliance programs for our diverse clientele. You will provide critical on-site support and technical expertise to help clients navigate complex air, water, and waste regulations, ensuring that all environmental compliance requirements are met at the federal, state, and local levels. This role is essential in safeguarding both environmental integrity and public health, while also guiding clients toward sustainable operational practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and oversee Environmental, Health, and Safety compliance programs tailored to meet client needs and regulatory standards.
  • Provide hands-on support to clients for environmental compliance, specifically concerning air emissions, water quality, and hazardous waste regulations.
  • Assist clients with the development and maintenance of compliance programs, including addressing enforcement actions and creating environmental management systems (EMS).
  • Analyze and interpret compliance requirements from federal, state, and local agencies, ensuring clients are aware of and adhere to all regulations.
  • Perform emissions calculations and assessments to ensure compliance with air quality standards, permit application requirements, and reporting mandates.
  • Advise industrial clients on current and future regulatory obligations, including those enforced by agencies such as AQMD/APCD, EPA, DTSC, CUPA, Cal/OSHA, and Water Boards.
  • Collaborate with client environmental staff to review and manage environmental permits, applications, and reporting related to ongoing service operations.
  • Help clients streamline and enhance the efficiency of their environmental compliance programs through strategic guidance and system development.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in environmental science, engineering, or industrial hygiene (or equivalent), MS preferred
  • 1 – 4 years of related experience
  • Environmental compliance or air permitting experience preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and manage a variety of project activities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective technical writing skills along with MS Office proficiency
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification preferred
  • California Driver’s License with clean DMV record
  • Reliable means of transportation

 

The pay range for this California position is $65,000.00- $80,000.00 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
