A Sr. Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all related aspects of an existing agreement related to the development of construction drawings for the installation, abandonment, replacement, or relocation of new and/or existing distribution and transmission (T&D) Natural Gas pipelines in the Southern Nevada Division and related service territories. Accountable for overseeing daily design operations and pre/post accounting tasks ensuring contractual and financial obligations are met. Working together with management to secure and manage future opportunities and projects and expectations. Must have proven leadership experience to work autonomously and effectively with remote personnel. This Sr. Project manager will be the main point of contact for a major Las Vegas natural gas (NG) utility and is responsible for creating opportunities for business development to build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Primary point of contact and liaison for local NG utility’s work groups.
  • Understand and execute contractual obligations related NG design agreement.
  • Know and understand natural gas industry design and construction standards to consult internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage design scope, schedule, and budgets according to agreement terms and conditions.
  • Work with local and remote matrixed teams to delegate work and assign tasks and deliverables
  • Monitors Key Performance Indicators, tracks critical path items, and report out as needed.
  • Manages design proposal, estimates, deliverables, invoice preparation, and other related project
  • Provide project analysis and metrics for individual projects to create trends and efficiencies.
  • Review, approve and administer contracts for sub-contractors providing project support.
  • Manage Scope change and create appropriate documentation for change orders related to existing contract terms and conditions.
  • Coordinate design and financial reviews necessary for project deliverables.
  • Review and approve designs submittals, cost estimates, and justifications for change orders and other project work requests.
  • Communicate project status to appropriate stakeholders and departments.
  • Represent NV5-Gas Services in meetings involving customers, field personnel, and other related stakeholders.
  • Negotiate solutions for internal and external complications.
  • Read and understand proposed civil improvement construction plan.
  • Coordinate with agencies for record and permitting purposes.
  • Project related travel.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Ability to:

  • Interact with various levels of clients to create business opportunities and working relationships.
  • Organize and execute business development and team building events.
  • Continuously develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, NV5 departments, customers, other utilities, municipal agencies, and other related organizations
  • Create training, roles & responsibilities, and deliverable policies.
  • Provide clear understanding and direction of next steps to design and management team
  • Build and maintain a network of third-party consultants and
  • Communicate project scope, objectives, and project feedback to team members
  • Validate deliverables per supplied utility operations manuals.
  • Understand client GIS mapping systems.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Las Vegas natural gas (NG) utility design and construction
  • Previous Las Vegas NG utility pipeline design and/or construction experience.
  • 5 years of work in the NG pipeline utility industry relating to pipeline design, construction, and operations, or equivalent Natural Gas pipeline projects.
  • Experience in leading a team of 2-5 individuals.
  • Project Managing Professional Certification (PMP)
  • Time Management and organizational skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office, written, and verbal communication
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience with scheduling software such as Microsoft Project and Primavera P6
  • Positive attitude, ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams, and ability to meet internal and external deadlines.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Previous internal utility employee for Las Vegas NG utility’s design and/or construction departments.
  • Experience in public utility design and construction, natural gas pipelines, water/sewer infrastructure, or electric distribution overhead and underground
  • Knowledge of permitting entities/municipal requirements for Clark County, City of Henderson, Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Mesquite, Boulder City, NDOT, and Bullhead-AZ.
  • Knowledge of agency requirements for Basic Water Co, Nern River, NV Energy, SNWA/LVVWD, and Lumen.
  • Previous work with natural gas meter set assemblies, measurement and control, pipelines in or on bridges, directional drilling of pipelines, valves, cathodic protection. And pressure recorders.
  • Previous work with Storm Water Pollution prevention plans (SWPPP).
  • Understanding of survey tasks and operations.
