We are recruiting an Electrical Engineer to work with more senior staff members in the development of plans and specifications on a number of concurrent design projects. They will apply engineering theories and concepts and solve engineering problems using experience, judgment and education.

The ideal candidate will have 0-5 years of electrical design experience with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, from an ABET-accredited engineering program, with some cooperative educational experience. In the absence of a BSEE, may consider applicants with equivalent combination of work experience and education.

The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of the principles of electrical design and have prior experience with AutoCAD and Revit. The candidate should have reasonable computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. This is a hybrid position requiring in office work a minimum of 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of a senior designer or engineer, is able to design and layout routine electrical lighting, power, fire alarm, and telecommunications portions of a project using AutoCAD MEP, Revit, or other means.
  • Take conceptual rough plan mark-ups and create final design documents, under the supervision of a senior designer or engineer.
  • Perform calculations and utilize various Microsoft and Third-Party software packages related to various portions of the design package as directed by more senior staff members.
  • Performs equipment takeoffs for calculation and cost estimating purposes.
  • Assist in the preparation of studies, performing field surveys, documenting existing conditions, and/or recommending various design solutions.
  • May obtain field data by conducting field visits to project sites both in state and out of state. Documents existing conditions. May require overnight travel.
  • Perform BIM/CAD functions proficiently in the electrical discipline and will use Revit and/or AutoCAD MEP software to transfer design concepts to a format acceptable to the client, architect and/or construction company in accordance with NV5 standards.
  • Attends in-house seminars and pursues educational opportunities both in and outside of the office.
  • Participates in technical and professional societies.

Qualifications

  • 0-5 years of demonstrated electrical design experience.
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Must be proficient with AutoCAD MEP and Revit software.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the principles of electrical design.
  • EIT Preferred.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be proficient in the operation of a computer and with the use of Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Proficiency with use of design software common in our industry is highly valued.
  • Must be able to commit to a hybrid work schedule with at least 3 days in the Andover, MA office.
  • Must be able to travel to job sites as needed or required.
