Overview

The Technical Expert is responsible for the production of airborne and/or terrestrial derived data in support of topographic survey grade mapping projects. The Technical Expert will continuously develop and document workflow steps to standardize and refine the processes of the production team using photogrammetric methods. Coordinating, training, and leading production teams, the Technical Expert leverages skills and ideas from throughout the industry as well as internal teams to promote continuous process improvement to meet standards and quality expectations to service our clients.

 

This position works closely with Business Development Practice Area Leads, Project Managers and the Production Manager, as well as with clients to ensure strategic alignment and prioritize initiatives to maximize impact while providing exceptional quality service.

 

Work Environment:

  • Location: NV5 Geospatial Dulles, VA Office
  • Travel:  <10% of the time

Responsibilities

  • Pre-project planning and estimation
  • Processing of source data
  • Utilize production software to include DAT/EM, Microstation, Global Mapper, TopoDOT, ArcGIS, Google Earth or other professional mapping software packages
  • Perform or oversee Aerial Triangulation
  • Stereoscopic compilation of data to client standards to create DEM’s and DTM’s
  • Quality Control and Assurance of technical data to client standards and map accuracy standards
  • Coordination with production teams including disparate departments and subcontractors
  • Submission and/or certification of project deliverables
  • Update and/or creation of internal production and status reports
  • Creation and refinement of workflow and methodology standardization
  • Communication with project and production resources
  • Troubleshoot and resolve accuracy or technical issues

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a geospatial field with concentration on surveying, geomatics or GIS
  • Professional certification in Photogrammetry or other mapping science or actively pursuing
  • 6+ years experience in a technical/professional environment
  • Process development and improvement experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Google Drive
  • Client relations experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in a business, science, or engineering program
  • ASPRS Certified Photogrammetrist
  • 10+ years experience in a technical/professional environment
  • Project management experience
  • Resource planning/production management experience
