NV5’s Albuquerque office has an immediate opening for a Geologist or Hydrogeologist, or Environmental Engineer with 2 to 8 years of experience.  The position would be a mixture of office and fieldwork.  Typical work assignments would include: support project managers with scoping, executing, and reporting of environmental or geotechnical field investigations/sampling; working independently during collection of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air, or waste samples for laboratory analysis; provide oversight of subcontractors during soil boring and monitoring well installations, geophysical surveys, and/or land surveying; log soil borings and bedrock cores; support operations and maintenance of remedial systems; permitting; and preparation of technical reports.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, agency representatives, and project team members.
  • Reliable, team-oriented work habits and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience developing and preparing reports for submittal to clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Determining project scope by understanding client requirements, reviewing regulatory standards, and preparing cost estimates
  • Current OSHA 40 hour training for Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) and current OSHA 8 hour Refresher HAZWOPER training.
  • Hands-on experience with environmental or geotechnical sampling of soil, surface water, and groundwater.
  • Ability and willingness to work remotely and independently on field assignments. 
  • Ability and willingness to travel, including the potential for extended travel (multiple days).
  • Ability to work overtime and availability outside of normal business hours.
  • Clean driving record.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from four-year college or university required. Degree in Geology, or Environmental Engineering, or related field.

Essential Function

  • Support project managers in scoping, execution, and reporting of environmental or geotechnical field projects.
